Frenchman's Pass

Location:
Southeast of Spanish Lagoon.

Frenchman's Pass is a scenic walk/drive through a pass where branches canopy the roadway. The French are supposed to have fought for control of the island with both pirates and Indians in the 17th century.

The road veering to the right leads to the Bushiribana gold mine ruins from 1898. The cement ruins are a favorite hangout for parakeets early in the day.

Going east, you can walk/drive to the top of Mt. Jamanota, which at 617 feet is the highest point of land.
