Smoking Restrictions on Cruise Ships

Smoking on a cruise is often allowed in designated areas on most ships. But the area can be so small and confining that the message is there--if you want to smoke, go outside, on deck. But only in certain areas. Certainly not at the pool.

Smoking is not allowed in cabins, in the main dining rooms and most public areas, such as the entertainment theaters. Some ships do not allow smoking on a verandah or stateroom balcony; others do. Electronic cigarettes have the same limitations.

Places where smoking may be allowed: players in casinos, cigar lounges and some small night clubs. Pipe smokers are usually limited to the cigar lounges and nowhere else. But it all depends on the cruise line. You might want to check this list.
