The Paradise Peak mountain hike begins just outside the town of St. Louis on St. Martin. Follow the sign and turn inland to Paradise Peak, which at 1,492 feet is the highest point on the island. The walk takes about 50 minutes each way.

Begin the walk at the gate with two large urns on the right. As the highest point, this region receives the most rainfall, so the vegetation is lusher than anywhere else on the island.

(It's also possible to drive to the top but if you feel the need for a good uphill walk, this is your best chance.)

At the top you'll have to share the view with a radio tower, but ignore it and enjoy the excellent overlook of Philipsburg.
