Orient Beach Saint Martin
Orient Beach isn't the prettiest
nude beach in the Caribbean, but it's the most
famous. However, other beaches on both
St. Martin and St. Maarten are topless or clothing optional.
Clothing is optional day and
night, but not all beach goers take off their suits. There's no rule
you must disrobe and a fair number of visitors do stay in their suits.
No doubt, the chance to gawk
at naked people is a novel attraction for many Americans and those from
other islands where nudity is generally banned. That's especially true
of cruise ship passengers.
So, if you decide to bare it
all, don't be surprised if you become an attraction for a few.
Changing rooms:
Available at the Club Orient Hotel near the main entrance and in restaurant
restrooms on the beach.
Shade: None.
Rent a beach umbrella, use lots of sunscreen.
Snorkeling:
Snorkel in the nude at nearby Green Key, which is served by Orient Beach
water taxis. But lather up your butt, which will be getting full sun
above the surface.
Traveling from the
cruise ship docks: From St. Maarten, the taxi fare is around
US$25 each way. Negotiate the fare and a return pickup time in advance.
Give yourself ample time to get back to the ship.
