The Flower Forest at Richmond Plantation in St. Joseph parish is a 50-acre tropical garden on an old plantation. It offers many beautiful trees and shrubs and spectacular views. The plants are labeled for a self-guided walk. Admission fee. Open daily 9-5. Call 246/433-8152.

Codrington College , which opened in 1745, is the oldest seminary in the Western Hemisphere . It has scenic grounds ideal for strolling. The entranceway is famous for its royal palms. No fee. On Hwy. 4 near Conset Bay.

The Sunbury House and Museum have one of the island's finest collections of antique furniture, antique tools and vehicles. Over 300 years old, this is the island's only plantation house with all rooms open to the public. Located on Cross Road in St. Philip. Admission fee. Daily 10-5. Call 246/423-6270.

Villa Nova is another superbly preserved great house, this one from 1834. The tropical gardens are beautiful. Queen Elizabeth once visited here. One of the owners was a former British prime minister, the late Sir Anthony Eden, Earl of Avon.
