Cozumel Shopping
Where to Shop, What to Buy

Cozumel is a good place for both serious and window shopping. Mexican-made items are the best buy whether in small shops or shopping centers.

As anywhere in the Caribbean, check the prices of items of interest to you in U.S. outlets before setting sail to ensure you are finding good deals. Signs promising 50% less or half-off mean nothing since they never tell you what the original price was.

Without having a general idea of what items cost back home, your purchase of imported items such as duty-free perfumes, cosmetics, china, crystal, watches and cameras may be far more expensive than they should be.

Basic Shopping Info:
Major stores typically are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a break for a few hours for the traditional Mexican afternoon siesta. If a cruise ship is in port, stores near the cruise ship docks may stay open during siesta. Credit cards, U.S. dollars and traveler's checks are accepted at most stores.

Cosumel Shopping Malls
On the water front avenue just in front of Punta Langosta pier. The Rafael E. Melgar, shopping mall has many fashion stores, jewelry and tobacco shops as well as duty free stores. Also many well-known food chains such as Burger King, Subway, T.G.I Friday's, Sr. Frog's and Carlos´n Charlie's.

Forum Plaza
The 2-story, air-conditioned Forum Plaza advertises that customers can save 50% from normal U.S. and Canada prices. Forum's Plaza’s biggest attraction is watching craftsmen making jewelry.
