Playa Grande
Dominican North Coast Beaches

Playa Grande, located 120 km from Puerto Plata, is the eastern-most tourist beach on the North Coast. It is located between the beach town of Cabrera and Rio San Juan.

Playa Grande beach richly deserves its name. At 1.5 miles long, Playa Grande is one of the longest North Coast beaches.

The scenery is striking and impressive with a high cliff overlooking the smooth sand beach.

Playa Grande is also home to the Playa Grande Golf Course, the last course designed by Robert Trent Jones.

The course and its rolling hills cover 2,000 acres and offer 5 miles of exposure to the Atlantic Ocean. A caddy is required and the club dress code must be observed. Other regs and package rates.

Located almost in the middle of nowhere, Playa Grande is more than an hour from the Puerto Plata airport and 2 hours from the Samana international airport.

For those staying in Cabarete, a popular short excursion is a seafood lunch or dinner from the vendors at one end of Playa Grande beach.

Boat tours on nearby Laguna Gri Gri are another popular option for those with their own rental cars.
