Which islands are grouped into which region are listed below. ( For information on which ships leave from which U.S. Cruise Ports, click here) Note: Although the Bahamas are in the Atlantic, not the Caribbean, cruise lines classify them as part of the Eastern Caribbean cruise when any of the Bahamas islands are included with one true Eastern Caribbean islands, listed below. For instance, the Travel Channel notes that since the ports are so close to home for U.S. passengers, Eastern Caribbean cruises are among the most popular, with a typical itinerary including Freeport & Nassau (Bahamas), St. Croix & St. John (US Virgin Islands), St. Maarten, St. Thomas and, finally, the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas.
